The Lead Guide helps direct the students’ activities spiritually, emotionally, academically, and physically in a prepared Montessori environment that challenges each child to reach his or her fullest potential in these developmental areas.
Essential Functions
- Annual training/continuing education required for State licensing.
- Implements all curricula in the classroom.
- Keeps records of parent communications and reports same to Director.
- Maintains updated records of each child’s progress.
- Responsible for maintenance of the classroom.
- Supervises and works cooperatively with classroom assistant.
- Assists children in toilet learning.
- Prepares and submits required reports, including conference reports.
- Conference reports must be submitted to the School Director prior to parent conference.
- Conducts conferences with parents.
- Maintains Minimum Standards and Guidelines as outlined by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services.
- Participate in a regular evaluation process including classroom observations, self-evaluation, and annual goal setting.
- Strives to exhibit the behavior described in the Employee Handbook.
- Communicate with parents, administrators, and student support staff concerning the emotional and physical well-being of students.
- Attend parent education events as detailed in the Employee Handbook.
- Create and host an online parent education event once a year.
- Attend community functions as detailed in the Employee Handbook.
- Other tasks as assigned by the School Director.
Qualifications
- AMI or AMS Diploma.
- Experience working with young children.
- CPR and First Aid training.
- Ability to interact and communicate appropriately and professionally with parents, students, and colleagues.
Requirements
- Occasionally lift classroom supplies/equipment weighing up to 20 lbs.
- Lift small children weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time daily.
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks such as at a computer keyboard.
- Works in standard classroom conditions and climates.
- Works outdoors supervising children at carpool and on the playground.
